About Us

Cornerstone Church is a community of believers. What does that mean - the word community? We believe that together we grow closer to God and one another. The Bible speaks about iron sharpening iron. We believe that together we grow stronger. We are a community of believers, a Forever Family.

Cornerstone strives to be a church where we kick down the walls that make it hard for people to find Jesus. Jesus calls for us to go to those outside the church to reach the lost and the broken. It is there that the lost will be found. At Cornerstone, we strive to be like the church from the book of Acts to see our city changed.

Cornerstone highly values our relationships with one another. We look to grow through fellowship, and ultimately grow closer to God. We value the Word of God and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We look to extend grace to all of the lost and broken, and lead those with no hope to the hope of Jesus Christ.

Cornerstone believes we need to be more visibly involved in the lives of our neighbors by going to them. We hope to offer our neighbors a small taste of the blessings of the Kingdom of God.

We aim to do this in four ways:

Kick Down Walls: We want to connect with our community through fun and friendship and invite them into a relationship with God, no matter who they are or where they've been. #GetOut

Connect in Worship: We want to create 52 weekends of heartfelt worship services so everyone has the opportunity to experience God. #GetIn

Counsel from the Word: We want to go relationally deep in small groups centered on God's Truth so we can experience authentic life transformation in Christ. #GetReal

Care for the World: We want to serve the real needs of our community to genuinely draw near to them in Gospel relationship. #GetNear

We are a community of calculated risk-takers for Christ and His mission. No more fear: not in our lives nor in our church! #FaithNotFear

We are a community of includers. All are welcome to come as they are to become something new in Christ. #LoveNotHate

We are a community of movers & shakers. We are not content to be comfortable, but to carry our cross for Christ. #MissionNotMaintenance

We are a community of grace-givers. We lead others to the Gospel, not the Law, because God did that for us. #JesusNotReligion

Founded in 1955 as the Evangelical Free Church of Yuba City
We first met in homes around town, and our permanent home at 700 Washington was completed in 1959.
Our location in a residential neighborhood laid the foundation for our focus on reaching our neighbors for Christ.
Our current Lead Pastor, Jason Poling, was led to Cornerstone in 2018 following the retirement of our Pastor Emeritus, Jim Anderson, who pastored Cornerstone for over 30 years.
We launched our Cornerstone City Center initiative in the fall of 2021 with the intent to create a place for all of Yuba-Sutter to get a taste of the wonders of the Kingdom of God!
